The airport operator BAA needs 20,000 suitcases, holdalls and backpacks for a live trial of a baggage handling system at Heathrow’s fifth terminal. In preparation for the 2008 opening of Heathrow Airport, BAA is set to run large scale test next year to ensure that all their conveyor belts and storage facilites can cope with the expected 30,000 visitors passing through terminal 5 each day. While some suitcase companies are lending their support, BAA are hoping to buy up uncollected lost luggage from around the world to meet their needs.
