Aeroscraft - A New Age in Aviation?
Frequent flyers may be interested to read about the development of a new type of aircraft by the Worldwide Aeros Corporation which could redefine the way we travel in coming decades.
More akin to a blimb, the Aeroscraft will be reliant upon 14 million cubic feet of hellium to hoist the aircraft into the air, whereupon it would more or less ’sail’ to its destination. As you’ll see from the rendered image of the Aeroscraft ( click here for images), the Aeroscraft would provide a currently inconceivably pleasurable journey in relation to todays standards, as the craft would measure in at twice the lengh of a football field. Given its size, the Aeroscraft can naturally accommodate far more luxurious facilities to compensate for the increased journey time (it is estimated that it would take in the region of 18 hours to cross the Atlantic).
Environmentalists will also be pleased to know that the aircraft will be powered by renewable sources such as hydrogen fuel cells. If the whole things seems largely unbelievable check out the facts from Aeros here.
