Mendoza… I could live here
16/01/2006 - We get to Mendoza at 07.30 in the morning. 19 hours of drive. It’s long and tiring. Especially when that silly employee wakes you up 1 hour before arrival to take your pillow… while we were sleeping. It’s already 22 degrees, although the sun just came up. We take a cab to the center of the city, get a drink and chill out in the main square, the Plaza Independencia. The weather is just perfect. We’ve booked the Alamo hostel. Very very nice hostel. Close to the center. There is a garden, dvd room, ping pong table, breakfast. Staff are friendly but they don’t try to make you feel like home. Very convenient as you have a big supermarket nearby (Carrefour - the french chain is everywhere in the world). We unpack, take a nap and talk a walk in the city. It’s the best city we’ve visited so far. Great athmosphere. And if you are looking to meet beautiful women, this is the PLACE! The city is located in a desert but Mendoza is full of avenues with trees, parks, squares. Mendoza is famous for its wines. You can take a tour to visit several wineries, but it was a bit too touristy for us. We plan to rent a car for the next day and visit the mountains nearby (heart of the andes with a peak at 6900 - The Aconcagua)
