Travel Podcasts
Browsing iTune’s podcasting charts over the weekend, it really struck me how many Travel podcasts are now being produced. While it’s not quite time to throw away the old Lonely Plant or Fodors’ guide, it will be interesting to see how the travel podcasting market grows over the coming years ,and more importantly the quality of these guides.
The potential would seem to be limitless; a personal walking audio tour of Angkor Wat, an insider’s guide to MOMA - I’m sure in a couple of years more or less anywhere you choose to travel, there will be an sizable range of amateur and professional guides ready to talk you through your destinations. In the meantime, Rough Guides have launched inconjunction with iToorsa range of free travel podcasts to complement their print travel guides. The range is limited at the moment, but for free who can complain?

A friend of mine is travelling from Hong Kong to London by bicycle. Crazy I know, but she’s podcasting along the way and has produced some great episodes. They are all available on http://www.thelongroadhome.org.
